Directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Reliance Entertainment, Chamkila stars Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh. It showcases the life of pop star duo Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur, whose songs that were social commentaries or devotionals were seen as huge hits in the 80’s.
The latest bollywood news is that Parineeti Chopra revealed that it will have over a dozen songs. It will have Diljit singing throughout the film. According to reports, it will begin shooting from December 11.
“Diljit and I are going to be singing throughout the film. We’re doing like 12-15 songs because it’s a film on music. We’re doing live recordings on set. So it’s almost like Broadway, but it’s not a musical in the classic sense,” Variety quoted Parineeti as saying.
“Imtiaz Ali is like a Sufi director, he’s like a Buddha on set. I just recently finished on ‘Uunchai’ with Sooraj Barjatya and I thought that I’m never going to get that experience again of a really simple amazing, quiet, calm director. I’ve been lucky that back-to-back, I’ve worked with these two amazing directors were just who make you feel so calm, who make you want to perform for them,” she added.
“Now I feel like I’m really shooting with a friend and I can say anything and do anything and be comfortable, which is really important for a character like this. It’s a biopic, so we have to get it right,” she further said.
Parineeti was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s “Uunchai” starring Amitabh Bachchan. She signed the Akshay starrer Capsule Gill movie.
