Ayushmann Khurrana will be playing the iconic character Prem in Sooraj Barjatya‘s much awaited family drama Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The shooting for Yeh Prem Mol Liya has already kicked off at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. According to reports, about 80 percent of the film will be shot at the studio, with some exterior portions being filmed at other locations. The team is focused on maintaining creative continuity and letting the emotional story flow naturally from start to finish.

Talking about his character Prem, Ayushmann expressed excitement about playing a Sooraj Barjatya hero. He said that the best part of working in a Barjatya film is that the hero is always a quintessential green flag character. The actor mentioned that while he usually loves portraying flawed characters with strong character arcs, in this film the entire family represents positive values and wholesomeness.
The film was originally titled Prem Ki Shaadi but has now been renamed Yeh Prem Mol Liya. The first song of the film has reportedly been shot over seven days and features Ayushmann along with 200 background dancers. Sources close to the production revealed that the song has been choreographed in true Barjatya fashion and sets the tone for the film’s joyful world.
Mixing Commercial Cinema With Unique Stories
Ayushmann also spoke about his strategy of balancing different types of films. The actor has Pati Patni Aur Woh Do lined up for 2026 as well. He explained that the reason he does commercial films like Thamma and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do for wider audiences is because he also wants to make unique films like Andhadhun and Article 15.
The talented star believes that mixing genres is important to gain audience faith. He mentioned that while An Action Hero could have performed better, he is now strategically choosing commercial entertainers alongside unique projects. This approach helps him connect with larger audiences who will then support his experimental films as well.
