Numerous tentpole Hindi films, including Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by the perfectionist Aamir Khan, and the expensive Shamshera, have performed poorly at the box office. While many are attributing it to post-pandemic effects, others think the rise of southern film is to blame. However, Actor Akshay Kumar does not adhere to either. Instead, he understands hat a few adjustments could help Bollywood in achieving success.
Recently Akshay Kumar Attended the Hindustan Times Summit 2022 with actor Ram Charan, where he discussed the potential causes of Hindi movies’ poor box office results and struggles to get audiences to theatres. He also emphasised the necessity for Bollywood to reinvent itself. He added that a movie’s production costs and subsequent ticket prices should be decreased by at least 30% to 40%.
The two discussed a range of topics pertaining to the entertainment industry, including Hindi films’ inability to get audiences to theatres. In response, Akki said that after the epidemic, “things are changed” and that the audience’s preferences are changing quickly. Akshay stressed that the movie industry needs to deconstruct and reassemble in order to satisfy the public. He continued by citing Marvel movies as an example of how multicasting is necessary for “epic” filmmaking. “Look at Hollywood, what kind of pictures are they bringing,” he asserted. People like to watch Marvel movies because everyone comes together in them.
Regarding his acting career, the 55-year-old star of Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Bachchan Pandey, and Ram Setu released four films in 2022. At the box office, the majority of his 2022 releases either did poorly or did averagely. He is working on several projects, including the remake of Soorarai Pottru and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
