The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has recently asked makers to remove visuals of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin from the upcoming Bollywood film “Fukrey 3”. The board has also modified a dialogue referencing the popular film “Munna Bhai MBBS”.
CBFC cuts in ‘Fukrey 3’
“Fukrey 3“, the third installment in the successful “Fukrey” franchise, has been eagerly awaited by fans. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted a U/A certificate to the comic caper. But it asked for a few minor changes.
In one instance, a poster featuring global leaders such as the former US President Donald Trump and the Russian President Vladimir Putin was displayed. The Examining Committee of the CBFC requested the filmmakers to eliminate this particular poster. Another alteration was made to the line, ‘Just like Sanju baba gave Maqsood bhai a hug’. This likely refers to a poignant scene in Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), where Munna Bhai (played by Sanjay Dutt) embraces a janitor named Maqsood (portrayed by Surendra Rajan) in the hospital. The cut list indicates that this specific dialogue was ‘suitably modified’, although further specifics were not provided.
The CBFC’s decision to remove visuals of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin is seen as an attempt to avoid any potential controversy. The board has not provided specific reasons for this decision, but it is speculated that it is due to the political nature of these figures.
