Godzilla x Kong continues to dominate at the Indian box office, raking in a staggering Rs 7.50 crore during its fourth week, bringing its total earnings to over Rs 120 crore.
Despite the massive gross numbers, the film is yet to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore nett mark, currently standing at Rs 96 crore after four weeks. The disparity arises primarily from the hefty taxes on movie tickets in Tamil Nadu, which impacts the nett collections.
The film faced a slight setback in its third week, grappling with competition from Eid releases. However, it swiftly rebounded in the fourth week, experiencing only a 40 per cent drop from the preceding week.
Impressively, the decline further narrowed to just 30% on Thursday. With a relatively clear runway ahead and limited competition in the coming weeks, Godzilla x Kong is poised to sustain its robust performance and could potentially culminate with a closing figure of Rs 130 crore.
Godzilla x Kong Goes Strong In North
Tamil Nadu emerges as a stronghold for the titanic clash, contributing significantly to its success with a gross of Rs 31 crore so far, securing a spot among the top five highest-grossing Hollywood films in the state.
While other South Indian states have performed exceptionally, Telugu states and Mysore could have shown stronger numbers. In contrast, North India lags in performance, echoing a trend observed in the franchise’s history.
