The makers of the highly anticipated film Hamare Baarah have been dealt a devastating blow as the High Court imposed a stay just 48 hours before its worldwide release. Hamare Baarah has initiated discussions all around with its plot, which addresses the issue of overpopulation, a topic rarely explored in Indian cinema.
It is set in Uttar Pradesh and sheds light on the pressing issue of population rise & its multifaceted implications. The film starring Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Parth Samthaan, and Paritosh Tripathi has garnered public attention for its bold narrative and thought-provoking themes since its announcement.
High Court Orders Stay On Hamare Baarah 46 Hrs Before Its Release
Recently, Annu Kapoor, the director, and the producers met with Maharashtra CM Shri Eknath Shinde to express gratitude for the safety and police protection provided, as well as for the assurance of safety during the release week.
However, producers Birender Bhagat and Ravi S Gupta have raised serious concerns regarding the recent development to impose a stay on their film despite receiving a censor certificate.
Makers Are Disappointed & Shocked With This Decision
“Our film has received a certificate from the censor board. It is set to release on its scheduled date this Friday. We have invested crores of our hard-earned money in making the film, risked our entire life’s savings, and made this film with great difficulty. We are shocked and disappointed since a stay has been imposed on our film without even watching it,” Bhagat expressed.
“This is a serious matter. The film was scheduled for a worldwide release on June 7. All our distributor agreements have been signed and all payments have been made to the distributors. Screenings were complete and everything was finalized. Now, we will have to halt the release everywhere, with our entire life savings at stake. Without hearing our side or watching the film, it has been stopped just days before its June 7 release,” he lamented.
Certain religious community activists have lodged a petition at the Mumbai High Court opposing the release of the film.
Hamare Baarah is co-produced by Birender Bhagat, Ravi S Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh and directed by Kamal Chandra. It features a screenplay written by Rajan Agarwal.
