Haq 2nd Weekend Box Office Collection Day 10: Emraan Hashmi And Yami Gautam Starrer Tanks Badly With Rs 16.33 Crore, Fails To Beat The Taj Story

Can critical acclaim alone save a film at the box office? The answer is unfortunately no, as Haq wraps up its second weekend with disappointing numbers. The Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam starrer has collected just Rs 16.33 crore net in 10 days, making it one of the biggest box office disappointments of the year despite receiving praise from critics and audiences.

The courtroom drama managed to earn Rs 2.95 crore during its second weekend, which is a massive drop from the opening weekend collection of Rs 10.01 crore. The film collected Rs 0.65 crore on Day 8, followed by Rs 1.10 crore on Day 9, and Rs 1.20 crore on Day 10. These numbers show that the film has completely lost momentum and is struggling to find an audience.

Complete Box Office Breakdown

Here is the detailed day-wise collection for Haq over its first 10 days:

DayCollection
Day 1 (Friday)Rs 2.03 cr
Day 2 (Saturday)Rs 3.79 cr
Day 3 (Sunday)Rs 4.19 cr
Day 4 (Monday)Rs 1.02 cr
Day 5 (Tuesday)Rs 1.25 cr
Day 6 (Wednesday)Rs 0.90 cr
Day 7 (Thursday)Rs 0.70 cr
Week One TotalRs 13.88 cr
Day 8 (Friday)Rs 0.65 cr
Day 9 (Saturday)Rs 1.10 cr
Day 10 (Sunday)Rs 1.20 cr
10 Days TotalRs 16.33 cr

The numbers clearly show a downward trend that started from Day 4 and has continued through the second weekend.

Loses Battle To The Taj Story

What makes these numbers even more concerning is that Haq is now trailing behind The Taj Story, another film that is not considered a major hit. The Taj Story has collected Rs 19.50 crore net after its third weekend, which is Rs 3.17 crore more than what Haq has earned in 10 days.

This comparison highlights just how badly Haq has underperformed. Even smaller films with limited buzz are managing to collect more than this critically acclaimed courtroom drama. The film, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 45 crore, is looking at huge losses.

Why Is The Film Failing Despite Good Reviews

Haq received strong reviews for its powerful storytelling, direction, and performances. The film is inspired by the landmark 1985 Shah Bano case and deals with important themes of justice, women’s rights, and religious reform. However, it appears that audiences are not interested in watching this kind of content in theaters.

The film is facing the same problem that many content-driven films face today. While critics and a small section of viewers appreciate the film, the majority of audiences prefer to wait for it to release on OTT platforms. This has resulted in very poor footfalls in cinemas, especially during the weekdays and the second weekend.

Flop Verdict Confirmed

With such disastrous numbers, Haq has been confirmed as a box office flop. The film needed to collect at least Rs 50 to 60 crore to break even, but at the current pace, it will struggle to even cross Rs 20 crore during its entire theatrical run. This is a huge setback for everyone involved with the project.
