Haq: Emraan Hashmi Delivers 19th Flop, Not A Single Hit In 13 Years, It’s True ‘Akha Bollywood Ek Taraf Emraan Hashmi Ek Taraf’

The box office numbers tell a brutal story. Emraan Hashmi, once known as the serial kisser of Bollywood, has been facing one of the longest dry spells in Hindi cinema. His latest release Haq has reportedly flopped at the box office, making it his 20th consecutive failure. The last time the actor tasted success was with The Dirty Picture way back in 2011.

Haq opened with just Rs 1.75 crore and managed to collect around Rs 9 to 10 crore in its first few days. These numbers are extremely disappointing for a film starring a known actor. The courtroom drama based on the Shah Bano case received positive reviews but failed to attract audiences to theatres. This has become a recurring pattern in Emraan’s recent career.

Thirteen Years Without A Hit

The numbers are shocking when you look at them closely. Since The Dirty Picture became a blockbuster in 2011, Emraan Hashmi has worked as the lead actor in 20 films. Out of these 20 releases, only one film Raaz 3 managed to get a hit verdict in 2012. The remaining 19 movies were either flops or disasters at the box office. Films like Jannat 2 got an average verdict, but that is far from being called a success.

The Long List Of Failures

The list of back to back flops is truly staggering. Ground Zero, Selfiee, Chehre, Mumbai Saga, The Body, Why Cheat India, Baadshaho, Raaz Reboot, Azhar, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Mr. X, Ungli, Raja Natwarlal, Ghanchakkar, Ek Thi Daayan, Rush, and Shanghai all failed to work at the box office. Some of these films were made with big budgets and had strong promotional campaigns, but nothing seemed to work.

What Went Wrong

There are multiple reasons behind this unprecedented failure streak. The choice of scripts, changing audience tastes, and the rise of content driven cinema have all played a role. Emraan was once known for his bold romantic thrillers, but that genre has lost its appeal with modern audiences. His attempts to reinvent himself with different genres have not worked either. Films like Selfiee and Why Cheat India tried different approaches but still could not connect with viewers.
