HAQ Final India Box Office: Yami Gautam And Emraan Hashmi Courtroom Drama Ends Theatrical Run At Disappointing Rs 23 Crore Gross

The box office journey of HAQ has officially come to an end, and the numbers are far from impressive. The courtroom drama starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi wrapped up its theatrical run at a disappointing Rs 23 crore gross in India. Despite receiving positive reviews and favorable word of mouth, HAQ could not find the audience it deserved.

The film was released on November 7, 2025, and opened with a low Rs 1.80 crore net collection. Right from the start, it was clear that the movie was struggling to attract footfalls. By the end of its opening week, the film had collected Rs 13.45 crore net. This was not a strong start for a movie featuring two talented actors.

Tough Competition From Multiple Releases

The second week proved to be even more challenging for HAQ. The film faced tough competition from Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2, which was pulling in bigger crowds. During this period, HAQ could only add Rs 4.35 crore to its total, bringing the two-week collection to Rs 17.80 crore net.

Things did not improve in the third week either. The movie hit a new low and managed to collect just Rs 1.25 crore while competing against 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4. Although these films were also low performers, HAQ could not benefit from the weak competition.

The Film Surrenders To Dhurandhar

In its fourth week, HAQ was barely holding on. The film collected only Rs 20 lakh while facing Dhanush and Kriti Sanon starrer Tere Ishq Mein. With the arrival of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar this week, the courtroom drama finally left cinemas. Its final collection stands at Rs 19.25 crore net, which translates to Rs 23 crore gross at the Indian box office.

This is a disappointing result for a film that had strong performances and a compelling story. The movie is based on the landmark Shah Bano Case and showcases Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in powerful roles.

Poor Marketing Hurt The Film

The biggest reason for HAQ‘s failure at the box office was its poor marketing. The film did not get enough visibility before its release, and most audiences were not even aware that it was playing in theaters. Even though the movie received praise for its performances and content, the lack of proper promotion meant that it could not reach its potential audience.

Some critics also pointed out that the film diluted the subject matter and excluded the political controversy surrounding the Shah Bano Case. However, HAQ still has the potential to find its audience during its digital release, where more people might discover this hidden gem.
