Some films disappear quietly. Others keep resurfacing just enough to deepen the intrigue. From Harshvardhan Rane’s Silaa to Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, and from Abhay Verma and Rasha Thadani’s Laikey Laikaa to JC, a cluster of Hindi titles has remained trapped in that frustrating middle zone, where posters are out, casting is known, and buzz exists, but the release date never arrives. As of August 20, 2026, these projects are still part of Bollywood conversation without a confirmed path to audiences.
Why These Films Are Still Fueling Curiosity
Silaa:
The hold-up around Silaa is a classic case of momentum meeting uncertainty. Omung Kumar’s film has been visible enough to stay on fan radar, and IMDb currently lists it as a 2026 Hindi romantic action drama in post production, starring Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb and Karan Veer Mehra. That status alone has kept the title alive, especially because Rane’s recent visibility has made audiences watch his next move more closely. There were more than four producers in the film and still film is awaiting completion due to budgetary issues.
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace
That same sense of suspended anticipation surrounds Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, but here the conversation became louder after CBFC-related rumours began circulating. Salman Khan Films issued a public clarification in July 2026, saying, “The film has not been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) yet. Any news suggesting otherwise is baseless and false. Any official updates regarding the film will be shared by Salman Khan Films through its official channels only.” That statement shifted attention away from certification gossip and back to the real question, which is when the film will actually be ready for release.
Laikey Laikaa
The younger slate is generating its own intrigue. Laikey Laikaa has drawn notice because it pairs Abhay Verma with Rasha Thadani, two names that immediately spark curiosity among younger Hindi film audiences. IMDb lists the Phantom Studios-backed film as a 2026 title in post production under director Saurabh Gupta, which has only intensified interest around why the film is still waiting. Film was shot a year back and few portions were reshot earlier this year but still film is finding no buyers.
Jacob Cardoso
That curiosity extends naturally to JC, also known as Jacob Cardoso. The project connects Abhay Verma with director Shujaat Saudagar and also features Shanaya Kapoor, giving it enough star interest to stay in circulation even without a release window. Taken together, these films show how a delayed title no longer simply vanishes from view. It lingers through cast appeal, title recognition and periodic updates, turning delay itself into part of the story. Makers were trying for direct to digital release but still there is no buyer or clarity over release.
Paarivarik Manoranjan
Pankaj tripathi and aditi Rao hydari starrer Paarivarik Manoranjan finished shoot in lucknow more than a year back and still stuck due to no buyer in market for the film. Film was shot in June 2025 in Lucknow.
Gandhari
Gandhari is an upcoming action-thriller and revenge drama starring Taapsee Pannu as a fierce mother on a mission to rescue her child. Headlined by Netflix, the film draws thematic inspiration from the Mahabharata, features raw action sequences (including blindfolded combat), and has an expected release date yet to be officially announced. Film went to reshoot mode over creative issues and seems those are still to eb resolved.
In addition to Taapsee, it has Ishwak Singh, Swastika Mukherjee, and Chhaya Kadam. Film is directed by Devashish Makhija (known for Bhonsle and Joram). Film is written and produced by Kanika Dhillon (Kathha Pictures).
Blind Game
Arjun Rampal and Priyamani star together in the Sangeeth Sivan directed crime thriller film Blind Game, where Rampal plays a suspended cop named Sikander and Priyamani plays the character Yamini. Produced by Deepak Mukut still waiting for buyer.
Pritam Pyaare
Pritam Pyaare starring Sanjay Mishra and Neeraj sood produced by Aamir Khan stuck for more than 3 years. Film tells story of two brothers and directed by Suneel Pandey.
Police Station Mein Bhoot
Police Station Mein Bhoot directed by Ram Gopal Varma and starring Manoj Bajpayee stuck due to financial situations. Film was shot a year back.
Untitled Vivek And Nithya Menon Starrer
Nithya Menon and Vivek Anand Oberoi starrer thriller was shot three years back in Scotland but its producers suffered heavy losses in Dukaan and Mastiii 4 so film is waiting for release. Film is written by Adir Bhatt and directed by Vishal Ranjan Mishra.
How Delayed Hindi Films Are Building Their Own Kind Of Buzz
That is where the wider backlog begins to matter. Once a few recognizable films remain unreleased for months or even years, they stop feeling like isolated scheduling problems and start reflecting a broader bottleneck in the Hindi film pipeline. Audience anticipation changes too. Curiosity is no longer driven only by trailers or songs, but by the mystery of why a film is still waiting.
That cumulative effect says something important about the current market. In an industry built on constant Friday movement, unreleased films can now generate their own shadow life through announcements, first looks and stalled timelines. Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace once had an April 17, 2026 release plan before that changed, while Silaa, Laikey Laikaa and Jacob Cardoso remain publicly identified with announced casts and directors. Instead of fading away, these films have become reminders of how easily even high-interest Hindi projects can get stranded between completion, strategy and market timing.
