Film distributor Kartik Ravivarma confirmed the news and said, “Yes, the deal has been struck. Netflix has purchased the rights for Mani Ratnam’s masterpiece for a remarkable Rs 149.7 crore. This marks one of the highest deals for Tamil movies.”
He added that Kamal Haasan’s business has seen significant growth since the success of Vikram, and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan has also been well received. As Thug Life approaches the end of its shooting, anticipation is building.
This landmark deal for Thug Life has surpassed previous satellite rights sales for several major Tamil films. Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly sold for Rs 95 crore, Suriya’s Kanguva at Rs 100 crore, and Vijay’s The GOAT at Rs 110 crore. With its impressive sale, Thug Life sets a new standard in the industry.
