Shah Rukh Khan is a name that needs no introduction in the Indian film industry. He has been ruling the hearts of millions of fans for over three decades now. But, before he became the ‘King of Bollywood,’ he started his acting journey with the 1989 TV series Circus, where he played the role of Shekharan, a young man who is responsible for managing a circus. He starred opposite Renuka Shahane, who played his love interest in the show. Recently, Renuka shared how they hit off on the wrong foot during the initial days of the show.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Renuka Shahane recalled her first impression of Shah Rukh Khan when they first met on the sets of Circus. She revealed that he was a “Delhi boy, very brash.” She further added, “I was pretty new at that time, and I was taken aback by his confidence.” However, over time, Renuka realized what a great co-actor Shah Rukh is. She praised his professionalism and his intelligence. She also appreciated how he respected every person on the set, regardless of their profession.
Renuka Shahane said, “He is witty, very intelligent. That was very good. He is a great co-actor. Because he comes from theatre, he improvises the scenes, and gets the tone right, that was always a part of how he worked. He is so professional. You ask him to work for 36 hours at a stretch, he would do it without complaining about it.”
The actress continued, “The other thing which I noticed about him at that time and I really appreciated about him was he has the greatest respect for every person on the set, from the spot person to the producer. He has a very equal way of looking at people. He communicates with the person, their profession doesn’t count. He is naturally very warm and with women, he is very gracious. All these are great qualities.”
During the same interview, Renuka also revealed that Shah Rukh Khan had recently teased her on social media. She had gone on a movie date with her husband, Ashutosh Rana, who plays SRK’s boss in Pathaan. Shah Rukh Khan had responded to her picture by asking her if she had told Col Luthra that she was his first heroine or if they should keep it a secret. Renuka had responded to his tweet with equal wit and humor.
Shah Rukh Khan’s success in the film industry is not just because of his talent but also because of his work ethics and professionalism. His co-actors and directors have often praised him for his respect towards every person on the set. Renuka Shahane’s recent interview only adds to his legacy of being a humble and gracious superstar.
