Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s debut streaming series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, experienced a stagnation in viewership during its second week on Netflix.
Despite retaining its position as the second most-watched non-English series from May 6 to May 12, the show saw a slight decline in views.
In its initial week, Heeramandi amassed 4.5 million views, while in its second week, it garnered 4 million views. The Spanish crime thriller The Asunta Case claimed the top spot with 5 million views. The series spans a total runtime of seven hours and 19 minutes.
Heeramandi Remains On TOP Despite Drop In 2nd Week Viewership
With a total of 8.5 million views and 62.3 million hours watched over 12 days, Bhansali’s creation has maintained its position among the top 10 trending series in 32 countries during its second week.
It has secured the number-one spot in various regions including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, among others.
Typically, major series witness an upsurge in viewership during their second weeks, but Heeramandi seems to have bucked this trend.
The Great Indian Kapil Show Continues To Underperform
In contrast, The Great Indian Kapil Show, which premiered in March, continued to underperform. Its first episode, featuring Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family, garnered only 2.5 million viewers.
Subsequently, the viewership steadily declined, causing the show’s descent on Netflix’s Top 10 list.
Other Popular Netflix Shows Joining Heeramandi
Among other notable shows, The Roast Of Tom Brady emerged as the most-watched English show last week, raking in 13.8 million views. Baby Reindeer witnessed a remarkable surge in popularity, starting with 2.6 million views in its first week and peaking at 18.6 million views in its fourth week.
Netflix’s most-watched series to date is Wednesday, amassing 252.1 million views within its first three months of release. Hits like Stranger Things 4 and DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story follow closely behind.
