Subhash Ghai, sometimes known as the “Showman” of Bollywood, is responsible for some of the industry’s largest productions. We have masterpieces from the director, including Hero, Khalnayak, and Pardes. He recently discussed the evolution of Bollywood films and recalled a time when the movie industry was an entirely different industry.
Ghai explained the rationale behind celebrities having a 20-person entourage in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama and referred to them as “nervous” actors. He also disclosed that Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan still work with the same crew as they did in the past.
Ghai compared the younger and older generations of celebrities in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, highlighting superstars like Shah Rukh, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn in particular, “Actors jo 40 saal se industry mein hai, jinko main 1980s se jaanta hoon, inke paas jo 3 bandhe hai na – makeup man, unka boy, aur driver, woh aaj tak wahi hain. Yeh 20 unke saath dekhenge jo naye naye musalmaan bane hain. Inko ghabrahat hoti hai ki koi mujhe dekh leyega, main teek se toh chal raha hoon, koi photo maang lega. Yeh gharaye hue actors ki nishaani hai ki uske peeche 20 log aaye.”
At his university Whistling Woods, Subhash Ghai also offers filmmaking courses. Seven long years later, in 2022, he resumed his production. Since he produced Hero, a 1983 version of his own film starring Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri and starring Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, who were both making their acting debuts at the time, Ghai has stayed away from production. He went back to it and also created the script for his most recent film, 36 Farmhouse, which had an ensemble cast and was released in January 2022.
