Lord Baden-Powell National Award winning Indian-filmmaker, Amit R Agarwal was recently awarded Karmaveer Chakra Award by iCONGO in partnership with the UN for pioneering the cinema for cause cinema in the Indian sub-continent.
His latest feature, Honey Kapoor Origins, is Asia-Africa’s 1st mental health awareness feature film, also the World’s 1st remote-filmed feature film. Agarwal said he was motivated to make a film on mental health awareness because WHO reported that some people might face mental health issues for the rest of their life owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
His previous cinema for cause film, Covidgo, world’s 1st corona vaccine film won much appreciation and is now a part of Unified Filmmakers’ Media Library, Germany.

The director of Institute of Management Studies, Dr. Ajay Kumar, lauded Agarwal’s continual efforts to bring Cinema For Cause to fore of the marquee of Indian Cinema. iCONGO founder, Jerry Almeida said, “Amit is few of the filmmakers that make cinema to bring about a positive change in the society”. Eitu Chopra, co-founder, Rex Ideas For Action added, “It’s great to see that young filmmakers like Amit are creating unconventional stories so beautifully and effectively.”
The films are distributed non-exclusively on Roku in US, UK & Australia. Honey Kapoor Origins is also available on various OTT’s worldwide. One of the lead actresses, Claudia, gushed that she came immediately on-board of Honey Kapoor Origins, as soon as she got to know that the film addresses the much neglected issue of Mental Health. Miital, an actress of Indian origin said that remote-filming concept was quite a challenge for her, but she is very happy that Amit thought of setting such an important film in these trying testing times. Takshima said that she was happy that Indian filmmakers are daring to delve into non-commercial films to better the populace.
Manpreet makes her debut with Honey Kapoor Origins. She said that she could identify with the movie, because she has seen her sister beating the mental health issues. Amit wounded up saying that Honey Kapoor YoLo is the next film in the trilogy.
