The Housefull franchise has thrived on chaos — now with Housefull 5, which has ratcheted it up another notch. Somehow, in a concept not seen before in Hindi cinema, the producer Sajid Nadiadwala has created two completely different films — Housefull 5 and Housefull 5A, each with a different killer in the climax.
That’s right, two endings, two murderers, and one completely silly comedy. Two Versions. Two Killers. One Franchise Making History.
According to an exclusive source, the choice to introduce Housefull 5 and Housefull 5A as completely separate productions stems from a very bold and zany creative concept focused on encouraging repeat viewership.
This creative approach, thought of by Sajid Nadiadwala himself, also benefits from a strong marketing angle — you will have to see both moviesto get the full experience. According to the sources, major ticketing platforms such as BookMyShow will list out both movies with distinct titles so that audiences don’t get confused (or maybe will be confused when they pick one of the two for their ending!).
‘Housefull 5’ Is Not The 1st Film To Hit Theatres With Multiple Endings, There Was Aankhen
At the trailer launch of Housefull 5, producer Sajid Nadiadwala claimed to break new grounds not just in Indian cinema but in world cinema when he claimed that the upcoming Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh starrer is the first film in world cinema to release in theatres with multiple endings.
He stated, “I have been thinking about this for the last 30 years, that if I make a thriller, what would be the X factor? How would people leave the theatre? So I have written a story wherein every theatre will have a different killer. If you watch Housefull 5 in Gaiety, you will see one killer, and in Galaxy, you’ll see another killer. In PVR Screen 4, you’ll have one killer and in Screen 5 another killer.”
Sajid then claimed, “And this is happening for the first time in the world.” He then reiterated that the film will have two endings i.e. two different killers.
But this is UNTRUE! In fact, this isn’t even the first time such a thing is happening in Hindi cinema.
There was also Amitabh Bachchan’s Aankhen (2002) co-starring Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal.
The film released with two different endings — one in India and one overseas. Eventually, the overseas ending where Amitabh Bachchan’s character returns was made canon. Film was a surprise hit and its sequel is much awaited by audience. This film pulled it off 23 years back and it would had been appreciated if Sajid Nadiadwala checked the facts before claiming multiple endings of Housefull 5 as first of its kind move in Hindi cinema.
