Hyderabad court orders stay on Kangana Ranaut’s series Lock Upp

A stay on the series has been ordered by a Hyderabad court, just days before the series' finale.

Lock Upp, a show presented by Kangana Ranaut and produced by Ekta Kapoor, has been generating news since its premiere. The reality programme has quickly climbed the top ranks, with each episode including more provocative content than the preceding. A stay on the series has been ordered by a Hyderabad court, just days before the series’ finale. In reality, the court has barred Ekta Kapoor’s AltBalaji, MX Player, and Endemol Shine from airing the show on any electronic medium, OTT platform, social media, or other platforms, according to the court’s decision.

The XI Additional Chief Judge of the Hyderabad Civil Court issued the stay order after petitioner Abdul Haleem Baig aka Sanober Baig claimed that the show is based on the script of his concept, ‘The Jail.’ After conducting a trial and reviewing the petitioner’s documents, the court determined that Baig appears to be the sole owner of the idea and script for the concept known as “The Jail.”

It’s worth noting that this is Baig’s first court appearance. In February, the Telangana High Court overturned the trial court’s ad-interim injunction prohibiting the series from being released, exhibited, or published. Despite the verdict, the petitioner claimed that the concept was owned by Pride Media, with him as the sole proprietor, and that it had been registered under the copyright statute on March 7, 2018.
