On 1st February, Amazon Prime Video officially confirmed that the ‘Pushpa’ Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has signed the female lead role in the Indian remake of the Varun Dhawan starrer series ‘Citadel universe’. It is a global-event series and a collaboration of Prime Video with ‘Russo Brothers’ AGBO. Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), a famously known creative team, are the showrunners and filmmakers of the untitled ‘Citadel series’. Sita R. Menon, Raj, and DK have collaborated to write the local instalment. The production is now taking place in Mumbai, according to the streaming site. The unit will next travel to North India before traveling to distant countries like South Africa and Serbia.

Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star in the first series to air in the Citadel universe, which is based on the Russo Brothers’ AGBO and will debut in 2023. The series also features David Weil. In addition to Madden and Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci will appear in the first season of Citadel. There are also plans for more local-language Citadel productions, including an Italian Original series starring Matilda De Angelis.

The fact that we have such a great cast and team makes the production process even more thrilling” the team added.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Samantha Ruth Prabhu Stated, “When Prime Video and Raj & DK approached me with this project, I decided to take it up in a heartbeat! After working with this team on The Family Man, it is a homecoming for me.” She also added, “The Citadel universe, the interconnected storylines between the productions across the globe, and most importantly, the script of the Indian installment really excited me. I am thrilled to be a part of this brilliant universe conceptualised by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. I am also looking forward to working with Varun for the first time on this project. He is someone who is full of life and cheers when you’re around him.”
Under their production company D2R Films, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK will also act as executive producers. Production on the Indian Original and all other series set in the global Citadel universe is overseen by AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and David Weil (Hunters). The show is produced by D2R Films and Amazon Studios. Executive producers for Midnight Radio, the untitled Indian Original, and other shows set in the expansive Citadel world are Josh Applebaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg.
