The 2025 IIFA Awards weren’t just about glamour and trophies. Producer Boney Kapoor grabbed attention with some big reveals about his upcoming projects. He shared that he is considering his daughter Khushi Kapoor for Mom 2 (a sequel to Sridevi’s 2017 film Mom).
He also dropped a fresh update on No Entry 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2005 comedy hit.
Boney Kapoor Confirms Mom 2
At the green carpet event, Boney Kapoor spoke about his daughters Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor. He praised their dedication and shared how they are working hard to match the legacy of their late mother, Sridevi.
Boney shared, “I have watched all of Khushi’s films – The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaaniyan. I am planning a film with her too after No Entry. It could be Mom 2. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeed in achieving the same level of perfection.”
Released in 2017, Mom was Sridevi’s final film. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the thriller earned her a posthumous National Award for Best Actress. If Mom 2 becomes a reality, it will be a huge milestone in Khushi’s career.
No Entry 2 Finally Moving Forward?
Boney Kapoor also shared an exciting update on No Entry 2. Fans have been waiting for news on the sequel to the 2005 comedy and he finally shed some light on its progress.
He said, “It (No Entry 2) will go on floors sometime in July-August. There are too many leading ladies, so I can’t just talk about a few now. We have locked a few and have some more to go. After we finalise everything, there will be a formal announcement.”
The first No Entry was directed by Anees Bazmee and went on to become a blockbuster. The film featured Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, and Esha Deol. Given its massive success, expectations for the sequel are high.
About IIFA 2025
The IIFA Digital Awards on March 8 saw big wins for Kriti Sanon, Jitendra Kumar, Panchayat Season 3, and Amar Singh Chamkila. The main awards night on March 9 was hosted by Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar, with a special performance by Kareena Kapoor Khan, who paid tribute to her legendary grandfather, Raj Kapoor.
Earlier in the day, IIFA also celebrated 50 years of the classic film Sholay with a special screening at Rajmandir Cinema, making the event even more memorable.
