After years of anticipation, the shoot for Ikkis has officially wrapped as of October 10, 2025, marking the end of a committed three-year production phase. The announcement was confirmed via a celebratory post on social media: “IKKIS Filming is officially wrapped!! Three years of hard work, passion, & relentless dedication.”
The film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, features Agastya Nanda in the central role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the war hero who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis has drawn attention for its scope, star cast, and the weight of its true-life subject.
From Concept to Wrap: A Long Road to Completion
Ikkis was first announced several years ago, and the project has weathered delays, reconfigurations, and evolving cinematic ambitions. Initially, Varun Dhawan had been associated with the project, but due to scheduling conflicts and the pandemic, he exited and the film underwent further reshuffling.  Raghavan’s decision to shift away from his familiar territory of crime thrillers into the domain of a military biopic has been noted by critics and industry watchers alike. 
Ahead of the wrap, Raghavan shared his enthusiasm about seeing Agastya and veteran star Dharmendra share screen space, emphasizing that Agastya was selected early in development for embodying the required vulnerability and sincerity after undergoing intensive army training. 
Spotlight on Arun Khetarpal: Story Behind the Soldier
The film revolves around the life of Arun Khetarpal, born on 14 October 1950, who joined the Indian Army and became a tank commander. During the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war, he fought valiantly in the Battle of Basantar and was martyred in the line of duty at age 21, after displaying conspicuous courage in face of enemy armor.  Khetarpal was posthumously awarded India’s highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra, making him one of the youngest recipients.  His family background is steeped in military tradition; his father later rose to the rank of Brigadier. 
That deep legacy makes Ikkis especially significant in the milieu of Indian war dramas. The titular reference—“Ikkis” translates to “twenty-one”—also serves as a poignant nod to Khetarpal’s age at the time of his sacrifice.
What’s Next: Post-Production, Release Date & Expectations
With principal photography now complete, Ikkis moves into the post-production phase, where editing, VFX work, sound design, and scoring will shape the final film. Earlier reports had pegged the theatrical release on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.  However, Bollywood Hungama lists the release date as November 7, 2025, hinting at a possible postponement.  More recently, a news report confirmed that Ikkis has indeed been delayed and will now clash with Junaid Khan’s Ek Din in November. 
As the film enters its final stretch, the anticipation is high. Audiences and critics will closely watch how Raghavan translates the intricate balance between war action, human drama, and respectful biography. The film’s success will likely hinge on how convincingly it portrays its titular hero and how well the ensemble—including Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and debutantes like Simar Bhatia—supports the narrative.
For now, the wrap offers a milestone moment. Ikkis has cleared its biggest hurdle; the journey ahead will test whether it translates that promise into cinematic impact.
