In Her 20-Year Career, Priyanka Chopra Claims She Has Only Earned Equal Pay During Citadel, Says ‘My Generation Of Female Actors Have….’

Speaking at the BBC's 100 Women event, the actress said that for her next series Citadel on Prime Video, she would finally be paid similarly to her male co-stars.

In her  20-year career, Priyanka Chopra has admitted that she has only once been paid equally to her male co-star. She was most recently in India. Speaking at the BBC’s 100 Women event, the actress said that for her next series Citadel on Prime Video, she would finally be paid similarly to her male co-stars.

“I’ve never had pay parity in Bollywood,” Priyanka said, as reported by The Independent. “I would get paid about 10% of the salary of my male co-actor. The pay gap is large, substantially large. And so many women still deal with that. I’m sure I will too if I worked with a male co-actor now in Bollywood.”

“My generation of female actors have definitely asked ,” she added. “We’ve asked, but we’ve not got it.” She also spoke about sexism on sets. “I thought it was absolutely ok to sit for hours and hours on set, while my male co-actor just took his own time, and decided whenever he wanted to show up on set is when we would shoot,” she said.

Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming projects include It’s All Coming Back To Me and Ending Things. Alongside Richard Madden, she will appear in the Russo Brothers’ Prime Video series Citadel. She also has Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif’s Jee Le Zaraa by Farhan Akhtar.
