According to Deadline, Inside Out 2 set a new domestic box office record in the US with an impressive debut of $155 million. This achievement marks the first time since Barbie that a movie has crossed the $100 million mark in its opening weekend.
Despite initial forecasts of a $90 million opening, the animated film exceeded expectations, securing the second-biggest opening for an animated movie of all time, with Incredibles 2 still holding the top spot at $182.7 million.
Inside Out 2 Aims to Exceed Dune 2’s $711.4 Global BO Collection
Internationally, Inside Out 2 raked in $140 million during its opening weekend, surpassing Frozen 2 as the biggest animated opening ever by $5 million.
The film also outperformed Dune 2’s $82.5 million debut in the domestic box office and is poised to surpass its $711.4 million global haul, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far.
The much-awaited sequel to the 2015 hit, Inside Out 2 has garnered praise from critics for its accurate portrayal of human emotions. The film is currently playing in theatres, continuing the emotional journey that captivated audiences in its predecessor.
