Inspired By Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish, Class 3 Boy Jumps From First Floor Building Of His School

2006 was the year Bollywood got its first true-blue superhero in the form of Krrish. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film starred Krrish as the titular superhero donned in a shiny black jacket. The film was a major critical and commercial success and inspired several other filmmakers to try their hands in the superhero genre which was untapped in the industry until that point.

However, there was a downside to all the buzz the film had created and a recent event has brought back memories of those days. Recently, a shocking incident took place at the Dr. Virendra Swaroop Education School in Kanpur where an eight-year-old class 3 boy tried to copy a stunt from Krrish.

The student jumped from the first-floor railing of his school building and fell flat on the floor during school hours. The impact resulted in the boy receiving a substantial injury to his nose, hands, and his legs. He has been rushed to a private hospital and the incident has been captured in the school’s CCTV footage.

The Krrish-Inspired Leap

According to media reports, the boy comes from Anil Colony in the Babu Purva neighborhood of Kanpur and his father is a drug manufacturer. On Wednesday, he tried to imitate a stunt shown in Hrithiks Roshan‘s 2006 film. He was inspired by the superhero to land safely on his feet after falling from a height and thought of doing the same. He left his classroom on the pretext of filling his water bottle and had several of his classmates for witnessing the event. The boy jumped from approximately 15 feet and fell flat on the ground.

He confessed to his mother about his admiration for the superhero and wanting to copy his stunts. Although he had told his classmates about it, no student had forced or encouraged him to do it. This was confirmed by the school’s principal Nandita Mali.

The Downside Of Larger-Than Life Superheros

In the 1990s, Mukesh Khanna’s superhero television series Shaktimaan became immensely popular among kids. However, some of them started attempting the stunts themselves and ended up injuring themselves. In one instance, a guy set fire around him hoping that Shaktimaan would show up to save him. Similar incidents were reported in 2006 after Krrish was released.
