Salman Khan’s big project with Atlee has hit a roadblock. The high-budget action film, which was planned as a two-hero project, is now on hold. The delay is reportedly due to casting issues, especially with South superstar Rajinikanth.
Atlee and Sun Pictures wanted to bring together two major stars from Bollywood and South cinema for the film, tentatively titled A6. Salman Khan had reportedly agreed to the film, while talks were happening with Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan for the parallel lead. The film was supposed to be a reincarnation-based period drama with a massive budget of Rs 650 crore.
Casting Struggles Have Delayed Salman Khan-Atlee’s Project
After months of discussions, finalising the second lead became a challenge. Sources revealed to Pinkvilla that Kamal Haasan was unsure about playing Salman’s father in the film.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s schedule is full until 2026. The Jailer star is set to shoot for Coolie and Jailer 2 and is also considering another project after that. With both Tamil legends unavailable, Atlee and Sun Pictures struggled to find a strong replacement.
The makers even explored international options. Reports suggest that Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone was approached. However, financial issues prevented the deal from happening. After facing multiple setbacks, the makers decided to put A6 on hold.
Salman Khan And Atlee Plan Future Collaboration
Despite the delay, there is still hope. “Atlee, Salman, and Sun Pictures have decided to work together on another project in the near future,” a source shared.
The vision for A6 required a strong Bollywood and South cinema connection to justify its huge budget. Without a major South superstar, the film’s business potential became uncertain.
Meanwhile, Atlee has now shifted focus to another big project with Allu Arjun. This film, designed as a grand spectacle, is also set to be a high-budget venture.
With the film on hold and Salman’s busy schedule, fans will have to wait to see when this superstar-director duo will reunite. More updates on their collaboration are expected soon.
