Under the tax evasion probe filmmakers Anugan Kashyap and actress Taapsee Pannu’s residences were searched by the Union Ministry of Finance. The two celebrities were accused of tax fraud and the department is presently doing an investigation.
According to the reports, the agency found discrepancies of income worth Rs. 650 crores. The searches began last Wednesday at the 28 resident premises and offices in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi of the production house. The production house Phantom Films has been dissolved in2018. As per the reports, the production house has not been able to explain the discrepancy of Rs. 300 crores.
The Finance Ministry’s statement stated that cash receipts amounting to Rs. 5 crores have been found as evidence on a female celebrity. The statement further said that
another tax implication of Rs. 20 crores have been found as the non-genuine expenditure by the leading producers and directors. As per a report, the department also recovered a number of emails and WhatsApp chats as a part of the digital data received from the production house along with the money.
