Sunny Deol has always been known for playing a lone warrior in action films like Ghayal and Gadar 2. But his upcoming film Jaat is set to change that. This time, he won’t be fighting alone. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film will feature eight female leads, all stepping into action-packed roles alongside him.
The film stars Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Bandhavi Sridhar, Moumita Pal, Vishika Kota, Praneeta Patnaik, Doulath Sulthana, and Ayesha Khan. As per a mid-day report, they will take on intense action sequences, performing daring stunts. Meanwhile, veteran actress Zarina Wahab will have an emotionally powerful role in the story.
Gopichand Malineni Wants To Show Female Characters As Fighters In Jaat
Malineni wanted to break stereotypes and present female characters as fierce fighters in Jaat. A source from the production shared that the director was clear from the beginning that women in the film should be as strong as the hero.
Regina and Saiyami will have high-energy action scenes. Bandhavi and Doulath (known for their work in Masooda (2022) and Madham (2020)) will play cops in the film. Moumita, Vishika, Praneeta, and Ayesha have appeared in films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024), Ashtadigbandhanam (2023), Sita Ramam (2022), and Gangs of Godavari (2024) before. They will also be seen as part of the cop team in this Sunny Deol starrer.
The source added that these actresses will not just be supporting characters but will be seen performing intense stunts, hand-to-hand combat, and using weapons to take down the villains.
Filming Is Currently Underway
The shooting for Jaat began in Hyderabad in June 2024. Sunny Deol has wrapped up most of his parts and is currently working on Border 2. Meanwhile, Malineni is focusing on filming action sequences with the female cast.
The team has built massive sets in Ramoji Film City, while outdoor scenes are being shot in Aziz Nagar and Krishna Nagar. Praneeta is currently shooting her scenes, and Deol is expected to return for a patch shoot next month.
Jaat is set to hit cinemas on April 10 and will be released in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil. The film also features Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh in key roles.
Apart the this film. Sunny Deol also has Aamir Khan’s Lahore 1947 and Border 2 lined up.
