In a recent interview, actor Jaideep Ahlawat opened up about the difference between acting talent and true stardom, making headlines with his take on Ranbir Kapoor’s position in comparison to Shah Rukh Khan.
“Ranbir is brilliant, but Shah Rukh’s stardom is something else”
While praising Ranbir’s talent, Ahlawat said in an interview to The Lallantop that it’s unlikely that the actor will reach the same legendary status as Shah Rukh Khan.
“Main bohut chota insaan hoon in sab cheezo k liye… ki main Khan sir ki ya Ranbir Kapoor ki popularity ko judge karu ki woh kis tarah ka abhineta hai ya kis tarah ka star hai? Mujhe aesa manna hai ki yeh koi jaan bujhke nahi hua hoga. Popularity hona, stardom hona ek alag cheez hai, usmein abhineta bhi ho sakta hai,” Jaideep said.
He acknowledged Ranbir’s talent, but emphasized the challenge in reaching Shah Rukh’s level:
“I feel Ranbir Kapoor kamaal ka actor hai, brilliant actor hai. Ho sakta hai ki woh Shah Rukh Khan jitne bade nahi ho.”
Emotional connection: the secret ingredient
Ahlawat underlined that Shah Rukh’s greatness comes not just from skill but from his profound bond with fans:
“Shah Rukh Khan ko Shah Rukh Khan banane mein sirf abhinay nahi, woh jo ek judao hai na logon ke saath, uska bohot bada haath hojata hai. Zaroori nahi ki sirf talent ke naam pe aap itne bade star hosako, ek abhinay ke talent ke naam pe.”
Jaideep’s professional ties with both SRK and Ranbir
Jaideep has worked with Ranbir in Rockstar (2011), shared screen briefly with Shah Rukh Khan in Raees (2017) and will soon be seen alongside Khan in King again, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Anil Kapoor.
He also shared that he was offered a role in Ranbir’s upcoming film Ramayana, but had to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
“Offer hua tha. Par timing match nahi ho rahi thi…” he confirmed.
