In an industry where stars often avoid talking about cosmetic procedures, Janhvi Kapoor has decided to be completely honest. The actress recently got candid about undergoing plastic surgery and shared how her mother, the legendary Sridevi, guided her through the process.
During an appearance on the show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, Janhvi explained why she believes in being open about these topics.
Why Janhvi Believes In Transparency
Janhvi shared that she doesn’t believe in “gatekeeping” beauty secrets. She remembered being a young, impressionable girl who felt the pressure of social media and seeing everyone being judged for their looks. She said she doesn’t want to promote this false idea of “perfection” for other young girls.
“I’m a big believer of ‘you do you,’ do whatever makes you happy. I would be very happy to be a completely open book about things,” she said.
Sridevi’s Guidance And A Warning
Janhvi admitted to having procedures done but emphasized that she was careful. “I think I have been very intelligent, conservative, and proper about what I have done. Of course, I had the guidance of my mom, and I’d like to share that,” she stated.
She also explained that she wants to be transparent as a “cautionary tale” for young girls. She joked about terms like “buffalo-plasty” and warned that it would be “the worst thing ever” if a young girl saw a video, tried something similar, and something went wrong. “I think transparency is important,” she added.
When Sridevi Didn’t Want Her To Act
Janhvi also reflected on her teenage years, which happened right when the social media boom began. She revealed that her mother never wanted her to become an actress and was very protective.
“Mom was still very strict about, ‘I don’t want you to be an actress.’ So she was like, ‘What’s the point? It’s fine if people see her with body hair and two chotis and a mustache.’ It was just the worst combination of things,” Janhvi recalled.
An Emotional Poem For Her Mom
During the show, Janhvi shared a deeply personal Hindi poem she wrote for Sridevi, showing how much she misses her.
The poem read: “Bachi thi phir achanak ek din woh haq kho diya, jo laad mangti thi usse muh mod liya, apni awaz kho ke apni maa ki awaz mein baat karti hu, issi jariye mein unke paas bhi rakhti hu.”
Praise For Shikhar Pahariya
On a lighter note, Janhvi also spoke about her rumoured beau, Shikhar Pahariya, and his impressive horse-riding skills. “I remember when Shikhar was playing polo and Ranveer was standing with me and he was like, ‘He looks great on a horse’. And I was like yeah,” she shared.
On the work front, Janhvi is set to star in Peddi with Ram Charan. There are also reports that she may be part of a new mega-budget film by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun.
