The director of the blockbuster film Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, has announced that he is working on a new cut of the movie for the digital streaming platforms.
Jawan: A box office sensation
Jawan, which released on September 7, 2023, has been a huge success at the box office, crossing 800 crore worldwide. The film marks the Hindi debut of director Atlee, who is known for his hit films in Tamil cinema. The film also features Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles in addition to Shah Rukh Khan. Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt also make special appearances in the film.

Atlee’s vision for the OTT version
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Atlee revealed that he is working on something special for the OTT version of Jawan. He said that he has given the right ratio of emotions and right length to the theatrical version, but for OTT, he is considering a different rhythm to it. He added that he is working on something and he wishes to surprise all the fans.
He also said that he has not gone on a holiday after the release of the film, as he is busy with the OTT project.
Atlee’s favorite scene in the film
Atlee reveals that opening scene with massy massy background, interval point when Vikram Rathore makes an entry to save his son and his memory coming back in the climax are his favorite scenes in Jawan.
Possibility of a sequel
Atlee also hinted at the possibility of a sequel to Jawan, as the film ends with a cliffhanger. He said that every film of his has such an ending, but he never had a thought of doing a sequel to any of them. However, he said that he has an open mind about it, and if something strong comes to him, he will definitely come up with that.
He also praised Shah Rukh Khan for his performance and collaboration in the film. He said that he is grateful to work with him and learn from him. He also thanked Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi for their support and dedication.
Jawan has been praised for its action sequences, cinematography, music and performances. It will be exciting to see the OTT version of the film, which promises to be a different experience from the theatrical one.
A Spin-off on Vikram Rathore?
Atlee also said if he had to make a spin-off, he will make it based on the character of Vikram Rathore, who is one of the two roles played by Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan. He said, “Vikram Rathore is my hero, may be I’ll plan a spin off on him” He also added, “I am a daddy’s boy and hence, I love to write strong father characters. You can see it in all my films.”
