After a long wait for a concrete update, JC is finally feeling real in the most exciting way. Director Shujaat Saudagar has confirmed that the Abhay Verma and Shanaya Kapoor starrer has wrapped its shoot, and the team is now racing through the finishing touches with an announcement timed for the immediate future.
With Hindi cinema seeing a steady appetite for nostalgia driven stories, Saudagar is positioning JC as a theatrical comedy that leans into an older, warmer kind of humour, the kind audiences once lined up for when character driven capers ruled the big screen.
The Latest Update On JC
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that Shujaat Saudagar has locked the film’s principal photography and is currently in the final stretch of post production on JC.
Speaking about where the film stands right now, the director said, “We shot this film last year. We are going to announce the release date very soon, by next month. It is a film that is set in 1987 Goa and is a comedy caper called JC. It stars Abhay Verma, Shanaya Kapoor and Tinu Anand, among others… We are in the last stages of post production and very soon the film will be seen in theatres.”
The film is a period comedy set in 1987 Goa, and Saudagar described its tonality as a throwback to the kind of entertaining, good natured theatre comedies associated with films like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. Beyond Verma and Kapoor, veteran actor Tinu Anand is confirmed to be part of the cast.

On the other side, Shanaya Kapoor has been building her early filmography with a mix of genres. She made her acting debut with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (2025), co starring Vikrant Massey. She also has Tu Yaa Main lined up for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026, directed by Bejoy Nambiar and co starring Adarsh Gourav, with Netflix confirmed as its official streaming partner post its theatrical run.
