Jee Le Zaraa has been a hot topic ever since its announcement in 2021. The film, featuring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif, was set to be a major road trip adventure, but its production has faced several delays. Recently, director and producer Zoya Akhtar provided a significant update on the film’s status.
Zoya Akhtar Reveals What’s Delaying Jee Le Zaraa
In an interview with The Indian Express, Zoya Akhtar shed light on the reasons behind the delays. She explained that the main issue was coordinating the schedules of the three leading actresses—Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif—along with director Farhan Akhtar. Akhtar said, “I think aligning the three of them, their dates, and Farhan, his dates.”
The film is a joint venture between Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, with the script written by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, and Reema Kagti. The production team includes Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Farhan Akhtar.
Javed Akhtar, renowned screenwriter and lyricist, also shared his thoughts during the interview. He praised Alia Bhatt for her performances in recent roles, particularly highlighting her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Javed Akhtar noted, “Alia, today, is perhaps, if not the, then definitely one of the few finest actors.” He admitted that while he considered her the finest, he chose his words carefully to avoid upsetting other actresses.
What Pee Cee Said About This Ambitious Project
In an old Instagram post, Priyanka Chopra reminisced about the film’s inception. She shared a picture with Alia and Katrina, along with a heartfelt note about their journey. Chopra wrote, “Katrina, Alia, and I enthusiastically met in February 2020, just before the world shut down, to discuss who we could trust to bring this vision to life for us and our choice was unanimous… Farhan and Ritesh, Zoya and Reema. We had all worked with @excelmovies and @tigerbabyfilms individually so this seemed perfect. It just so happened that Farhan was working on a female road trip movie at the same time! Talk about all the stars aligning!!”
Earlier this year, in June, Farhan Akhtar confirmed that he would “definitely” direct Jee Le Zaraa, adding more anticipation to the film’s eventual release.
