Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s next sports drama has been postponed even again to avoid a clash with Kannada sensation Yash’s upcoming film KGF Chapter 2 and Vijay Thalapathy’s Beast, according to reports.

This Hindi version of the south Indian film was originally scheduled to hit theatres in August 2020, but it was delayed due to production concerns, and when it was finally scheduled to hit theatres in December 2021, it was again postponed due to the third wave of Covid-19 in India.

Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor and set to be released in theatres in a few days, has now been postponed by a week. The rationale for this, as previously stated, was to avoid any major box office confrontations with KGF Chapter 2 and Beast. Is this, however, the real reason? According to the newest information on the Shahid and Mrunal Thakur starrer, the delay is not due to a scheduling conflict, but rather because the film’s producers have been accused of plagiarism.

That’s right, you heard it correctly. According to ETimes, the creators of the Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer Jersey have been charged by a writer named Rajneesh Jaiswal, who claims ownership of the upcoming film’s story. Today, Justice Chagla of the Mumbai High Court will hear the case (11th April).

Is this the real cause for the fourth postponement of the film? We’ll have to wait for the outcome of this plagiarism case to be announced.
