In an unusual move for a major film rollout, Ramayana: Part One is stepping into classrooms before it reaches cinemas. JioHotstar will premiere Har Yug Mein Ram: A Conversation with Young Leaders on November 1, bringing together Ranbir Kapoor, director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and actor Ravie Dubey for a discussion that shifts the spotlight from spectacle to the emotional and moral world of the Ramayana.
Mounted with I.I.M.U.N., the initiative drew nearly 20,000 students from more than 500 schools across 18 cities. Around 150 student leaders attended in person at I.I.M.U.N.’s Mumbai headquarters, while thousands more joined virtually from their classrooms, giving the event the energy of a nationwide exchange rather than a routine promotional stop.
What The Jiohotstar Special Will Show
The discussion centred on themes that have kept the Ramayana alive across generations, including duty, courage, friendship, love, forgiveness and sacrifice. Students pushed the panel into a thoughtful conversation, debating who the true hero of the epic is, what they would ask Lord Rama, which character they would choose as a friend, and whose journey among Rama, Sita and Lakshman felt the most difficult.
Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama in the film, said, “Rama’s story has been part of our lives for generations, and stepping into his shoes has been an incredibly humbling experience. What made this interaction special was hearing young minds engage with his story in their own way.”
Namit Malhotra added, “Ramayana has given us generations of stories, values, and lessons that continue to guide us even today. As we bring this epic to the big screen, it’s equally important that young people discover these values and find their own connection with them.”
Nitesh Tiwari And Ravie Dubey On The Epic’s Emotional Core
For Nitesh Tiwari, the session underlined why the Ramayana continues to connect so powerfully across age groups. He said, “The richness of Ramayana lies in the fact that alongside its larger-than-life moments, its characters face deeply human choices and emotions. As filmmakers, our responsibility was to preserve that emotional truth while bringing the story to the screen for a new generation.”
Ravie Dubey, who plays Lakshman, said, “Playing Lakshman gave me the opportunity to explore a relationship built on loyalty, love, and an unwavering sense of duty. What I found interesting during this interaction was how young people viewed these relationships and choices from their own experiences.”
How The Youth Conversation Shapes Ramayana’s Rollout
That exchange is what gives this special its real significance. Instead of treating the film only as a large scale screen event, the makers are opening a space for younger audiences to engage with its relationships, dilemmas and values before watching the story unfold in theatres.
The film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, with Nitesh Tiwari directing and Namit Malhotra backing the project. Framing the campaign through a youth focused conversation gives Ramayana: Part One a warmer and more intimate entry point. By foregrounding how students respond to Rama, Sita and Lakshman as characters, the November 1 special builds an emotional bridge to the film and gives its mythology a distinctly contemporary pulse.
