John Abraham talked about the possibility of a Pathaan prequel exploring Jim’s backstory but said nothing is confirmed yet.

John Abraham left a strong impact as Jim in Shah Rukh Khan-led Pathaan. The 2023 action thriller was a massive success and marked the fourth film in the YRF Spy Universe.

Fans have been eager to know if Jim’s story will continue. Now, John has spoken about the possibility of a prequel exploring his character’s past.

John Abraham On Possibilities Of Pathaan Prequel

In his conversation with Pinkvilla, John was asked if there were serious talks with producer Aditya Chopra about a Pathaan spin-off.

He said, “With Adi, only he knows in his head what he’s discussing with himself. Yes, there have been discussions. I hope it sees the light of day, but I honestly, and it’s not like I’m trying to keep something away. I can’t comment on it because I too don’t know, but I hope it happens. It looks interesting, so I hope it happens.”

The idea of a Pathaan prequel has been buzzing for a while. Jim’s complex character won fans over, and many want to see his backstory on screen.

Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, John previously described Jim as “cool” and “special.” He also spoke about his strong working relationship with Aditya Chopra and recalled past projects like Dhoom, New York, and Kabul Express.

At that time, the actor hinted at the prequel and said, “I think he (Adi) gets me right, and hopefully we’ll be doing a prequel to Jim before he goes bitter. So that should be happening.”

John On Turning Down Similar Roles

After Pathaan, the industry quickly saw John as the go-to villain. When asked if he received more negative roles, he laughed and said, “From the south, from the north, from the east, from everywhere…”

He added, “It takes me anywhere between five and seven seconds to refuse that.”

For the unversed, John is currently enjoying praise for his performance in his latest film The Diplomat. The espionage thriller, directed by Shivam Nair, stars him alongside Sadia Khateeb and Revathy. Produced by T-Series, JA Entertainment, Wakaoo Films, and Fortune Pictures, the film is doing well in cinemas.

Well, there’s no official confirmation about a Pathaan prequel yet, but John’s comments have certainly fueled excitement.
