Devara Part 1, featuring Jr NTR, is set to release in theatres on Friday, September 27. Excitement is at an all-time high, particularly for the Telugu version, as advance bookings are flying in the South. Many believe this film will be one of the biggest openers in the area.
To address potential screen-sharing issues with another film, the makers have chosen to cut the runtime by seven minutes.
Devara Part 1 Receives Further Cut After CBFC Certification
Originally, Devara Part 1 clocked in at 177 minutes and 58 seconds, or just under three hours. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the Hindi version a U/A certificate on September 18.
Following this, the filmmakers contacted the CBFC again on September 24 to announce a significant cut. They removed a scene running 4 minutes and 41 seconds, beginning with the line, “Kya re, samandar pe rehne waale ko tu machli bech raha hai kya,” and concluding with, “Tere saath ek raat pakka bitaungi.” In addition, the rolling titles, which took up 2 minutes and 19 seconds, were also trimmed.
Jr NTR Starrer Now Has A Duration Of 171 Minutes
With these adjustments, the final runtime for Devara Part 1 is now 170 minutes and 58 seconds. This trimming also extended to the Telugu version, which was initially passed by the CBFC on September 11, with additional cuts made on September 19.
Previously, on September 12, Bollywood Hungama reported that the CBFC had removed three violent scenes from the film and had instructed the makers to include a CGI mark in one shark scene.
Advance Booking For Hindi Version Of Devara Not Yet Open In Maharashtra
Despite the high anticipation, advance bookings for the Hindi version of Devara Part 1 have not yet opened in many theatres across Maharashtra.
According to sources reported by Bollywood Hungama, the film is contending with screen-sharing issues due to the release of Dharmaveer: Mukkam Post Thane 2, which also premieres on September 27.
An exhibition official explained, “The earlier part, Dharamveer (2022), was a huge hit, and both films are based on Anand Dighe, the revered mentor of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. Single-screen and some two-screen theatres are currently trying to figure out how to divide the shows. They are in contact with the respective distributors to find a solution.”
Another exhibitor added, “The show-sharing issue is complicated because last week’s Marathi release, Navra Maza Navsacha 2, is performing exceptionally well in Maharashtra. There is confusion about which film to accommodate and how many shows to allocate. Nevertheless, we expect the issue to be resolved by Thursday evening.”
It will be interesting to see how Devara performs amid these challenges.
