According to a tabloid report, Juhi Chawla has teamed up with Bhansali for Heeramandi. The actress will have a significant role in the series. Heeramandi would feature 18 female actresses, including Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Nimrat Kaur, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Diana Penty, according to a source close to the project. While Juhi Chawla will join the cast, she will perform an important cameo in the eight-episode web series. The actress recently met with Bhansali and immediately expressed interest in playing the role. Juhi is ready to begin her shot schedule and will do so soon.

According to the report, the series will span the nineteenth century until the pre-partition period. The storyline has recently undergone modifications by Bhansali himself. The first Heeramandi was located in Lahore and was known as Shahi Mohalla. Before the courtesans moved in and began practising Mujra, the building housed Bhansali attendants and Mughal Empire servants. Bhansali now intends to portray Heermandi as a hallowed site for learning music and dance. The conflict between two geet sangeet gharanas (houses) will be the focus of the show (Classical Music). The plot will be set in Lahore and will travel from there to Mumbai.
