Kajol’s Maa Pays Tribute To Mothers In End Credits, Ajay Devgn Calls It A Long Overdue Honour

Ajay Devgn and the team behind Maa, a mythological horror starring Kajol, include the names of all cast and crew’s mothers in the credits, calling it a long overdue tribute to motherhood.

Maa: A Tribute to Mothers — Both On and Off Screen

In a moving and unusual gesture, the makers of the upcoming mythological horror film Maa, starring Kajol, have chosen to pay tribute to the mothers of the cast and crew by including their mothers’ names in the credits of the film. This gesture has been widely praised and seems to resonate with audiences before the film has even opened.

At the trailer launch of Maa, producer Ajay Devgn shared the reasoning behind this homage:

“I think when we make a film, we every time add our dad’s name, this time actually we thought mothers should get the respect. That’s why everybody has their mother’s name in their names.”

Maa: A Film About Motherhood

Maa, directed by Vishal Furia, is a supernatural mythological horror film and follows a mother’s journey, played by Kajol, as she transforms into Kali, the goddess, to save her child and defeat a demonic curse based on fear, betrayal, and blood.

The film also features Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, and Ronit Roy in key roles. The story combines mythology and modern storytelling, offering a potent story of motherhood and sacrifice.

Presented With Emotion, Produced With Pride

Jio Studios and Devgn Films present Maa, which is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande and co-produced by veteran Kumar Mangat Pathak. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically on June 27, 2025, without any competition at this point, and it is already generating substantial interest from the public for its content and extraordinary behind-the-scenes activities.

“A personal thank-you at the end of the film to the ones who shaped us – women. We wanted this to be personal,” said a senior crew member during the press briefing.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

Maa will ensure we take the time to stop and remember who we owe our beginnings to: our mothers, in a world where film credits rarely connote any recognition. Ajay Devgn and Vishal Furia‘s gift to moms is more than just pure symbolism: the collective, shared spirit of almost ketchup-like emotional resonance with gesture truly abounds in this immediate ideological experience. The film gods and spirits must have felt blessings on the day of the screening, with Kajol‘s powered, ripped-from-the-mythology horror designed specifically for moms paired with credits dedicated to mothers closed up in love and respect. Maa may end up being the most emotional and heartfelt life of a mom to enter cinemas this year.
