After days in Hyderabad for the sequel’s ongoing shoot, the megastar is back home in Mumbai, and his sign-off was all the confirmation the internet needed.
With Kalki 2898 AD already cemented as one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious mythological sci-fi universes, every movement around the sequel has been watched closely. This time, Bachchan’s own words have done the job, putting a clear full stop on his latest Hyderabad schedule.
Amitabh Bachchan Confirms Kalki 2 Hyderabad Shoot Wrap
Bachchan confirmed that he has wrapped work on the Hyderabad schedule and returned to Mumbai, referencing the sequel simply as “K2” on his blog. In his post, he wrote, “Home is the gates of Jalsa, where with longing shall hopefully meet the Ef and the well wishers again after a gap last week due to absence from home.. work for K2, had taken me to Hyds.. SO,” alongside a photo featuring a potted plant with a single rose in bloom.
The update lands at a moment when Kalki 2 is actively filming in Hyderabad. The sequel has gone on floors with key schedules being mounted on large sets, and Bachchan’s wrap note signals that his portions for this leg are now complete, at least for the current phase.
What Kalki 2 Is Building Toward
Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD (2024) brought together Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in a dystopian epic that fused futuristic warfare with characters and themes inspired by the Mahabharata. Bachchan played Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior, positioned as the protector of Sumathi, played by Padukone, who is central to the prophecy driving the story forward. Haasan’s Supreme Yaskin emerged as the primary antagonist.
