In a recent update in Kangana Ranaut’s legal battle with writer Ashish Kaul, Kaul filed a contempt petition against Ranaut in the Bombay High Court, accusing her of lying to the court. According to the report, Kaul’s lawyers, Adnan Shaikh and Yogita Joshi, wrote a letter to Javed Akhtar and learnt through his response that the passport application was falsified, which is a serious felony. They went on to explain that they had a responsibility to bring this to the Hon’ble High Court’s attention, and that if court fraud is confirmed, there would surely be consequences.

Kangana Ranaut is accused of failing to disclose all of the cases filed against her in various courts. Javed Akhtar filed an intervention petition stating that Kangana omitted material on purpose in order to achieve a favorable passport renewal decision.

The Bombay High Court had earlier in the day dismissed Akhtar’s interim appeal, in which he alleged that Ranaut withheld information from the court about an impending defamation lawsuit he had filed against her. Ranaut expressed her gratitude to the High Court for dismissing Akhtar’s appeal on Instagram.
