Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu 3 In Trouble: Eros International Issues Public Notice After News Of Sequel Comes Out, Tanu Weds Manu 3 Already Underway With Different Director

The future of the highly anticipated sequel Tanu Weds Manu 3 has suddenly become uncertain. Just last week, director Aanand L Rai announced that he was moving forward with the third film in the popular franchise. However, this week, producers Eros International issued a public notice strongly challenging his claim.

The dispute between the director and the studio has put a question mark on who actually owns the rights to continue the story of Tanu and Manu, played by Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan.

Eros Claims Full Ownership Of The Franchise

In response to Aanand L. Rai’s announcement, Eros International published a “Caution Notice” for the public and the film industry. The notice states clearly that Eros holds the “sole and exclusive” rights to both Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015).

The notice warns that any attempt by another person or company to produce a sequel would be illegal. Eros also mentioned in the notice that they are already in the process of developing their own continuation of the franchise. This announcement directly targets Rai’s plans, suggesting a major legal battle is about to begin over control of the successful series.

A Pattern Of Disputes Between Rai And Eros

This conflict over Tanu Weds Manu is not the first time Aanand L. Rai and Eros International have clashed over film rights. A few months ago, Rai publicly criticized Eros for re-releasing his 2013 hit film Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered “happy ending” without his permission. The move created significant controversy among fans who felt it disrespected the original story.

Furthermore, Eros previously objected when Rai promoted his upcoming film Tere Ishq Mein (starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon) by linking it to the world of Raanjhanaa. Eros claimed ownership of the Raanjhanaa property and warned against using its name or themes for promotion. This history suggests the fight for Tanu Weds Manu 3 is part of a larger, ongoing disagreement between the creator and the studio.

Official Plans For A New Film

The most exciting piece of information from the notice is the confirmation that new plans for the franchise exist. The producers stated that Eros International “is already in process of producing a further franchise of the aforesaid Films.” While details about Tanu Weds Manu 3 have not been shared, this confirms that fans can look forward to another movie in the future from the official makers.

The warning advises aspiring actors and other industry professionals to be careful. Any deal made with a third party for the rights to Tanu Weds Manu will be considered illegal. The company stated that it reserves the right to take legal action against anyone attempting to create an unauthorized version of the film.

About Tanu Weds Manu Franchise

The Tanu Weds Manu franchise features the story of Tanuja “Tanu” Trivedi (Kangana Ranaut) and Manoj “Manu” Sharma (R. Madhavan), two characters with opposite personalities who fall in love and get married. The second film, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, introduced Kangana Ranaut in a double role as Tanu and the lookalike Haryanvi athlete Kusum “Datto” Sangwan, and was a massive box office success.
