The makers of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 are going all out with a grand war sequence that will elevate the film’s cinematic experience. Hombale Films is working with a massive crew and international experts to bring this epic sequence to life.
Kantara Chapter 1 Makers Are Shooting A Massive War Sequence
An industry insider revealed, “Hombale Films is currently shooting an extensive war sequence for Kantara Chapter 1. The production house is working with a massive crew and several international specialists. It is going to be a grand war sequence like never seen before.”
Rishab Shetty (who plays the lead role) has spent a year training in Kalaripayattu, one of the world’s oldest and most scientific martial arts. Originating in Kerala, this intense training has helped him perfect his moves and add authenticity to his performance.

Set in the Kadamba period of Karnataka, the prequel highlights a time of rich history, impressive architecture, and cultural significance. The Kadambas were powerful rulers who helped shape the region, with this era often called a golden age of Indian history, known for its grandeur and beauty.
But Kantara Chapter 1 is not just about the action. It also explores the Kola Festival, a ritualistic dance and worship ceremony for spirits and deities in the Tulu-speaking areas of India. The original film had a massive impact with its portrayal of the Kola celebration, particularly the final 20 minutes, which were truly epic.
After its release, Kantara became a huge hit, ranking as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, just behind K.G.F: Chapter 2. The film was also the fourth highest-grossing film in India for 2022. Its success wasn’t limited to the box office. The film was featured at the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama section and won the Silver Peacock – Special Jury Award, cementing its critical success.
