On Monday, July 17, it was officially announced that Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi will be joining forces in Sriram Raghavan’s upcoming film titled Merry Christmas. The movie, which promises to be a unique blend of genres, is scheduled for release on December 15, 2023. However, there seems to be a clash at the box office as it will be releasing on the same day as Yodha, a film led by Sidharth Malhotra. This clash has caused dissatisfaction among the film’s producer, Karan Johar, who has expressed his unhappiness with the situation.
In a post shared on Instagram Threads, Karan Johar expressed his disappointment regarding the clash of release dates between Merry Christmas and Yodha. He mentioned that studios and producers should have displayed courtesy by discussing the date clash before finalizing their release dates. Karan Johar emphasized that clashing without prior communication is not a desirable approach for the industry.
He further emphasized the importance of unity among studios and producers during these challenging times for theatrical releases. According to Karan Johar, if the industry fails to stand united, referring to it as a fraternity becomes meaningless.

On social media, the production house recently revealed the release date of Yodha. The announcement highlighted that Yodha is the first action film of the franchise and features Sidharth Malhotra as the main lead. It also mentioned that the movie is directed by the debutant duo Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. The film is set to hit the theaters on December 15, 2023. Additionally, it was revealed that Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna have been cast in prominent roles alongside Sidharth Malhotra.
Merry Christmas, being a multi-lingual film, has been shot in both Hindi and Tamil languages. The Hindi version of the movie features Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand in significant roles, while the Tamil version includes Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. This dual-language approach is expected to heighten the anticipation among fans across the globe. The film also introduces a talented child actor named Pari, and viewers can look forward to exciting cameo appearances by Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte.
