Indian cinema has once again made its mark on the global stage, this time at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Two films, ‘Kill’ and ‘Dear Jassi’, have been lauded for their unique storytelling and stellar performances.
‘Kill’, the action thriller co-produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, has been making waves since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2023. The film, starring Lakshya and Raghav Juyal, has received high praise from critics for its brutal violence and relentless action.
Also another Indian film, ‘Dear Jassi’, written by ‘OMG 2’ fame, Amit Rai won the prestigious Platform Award for Best Film which is the first time that an Indian film has received this honour.
Karan Johar, Guneet Monga’s Kill starring Lakshya becomes first runner-up in Midnight Madness PCA rankings
A few days ago, ‘Kill’, a joint production of Karan Johar‘s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga Kapoor’s Sikhya Entertainment, was premiered at TIFF 2023 (Toronto International Film Festival). Lakshya marks his acting debut in this intense action thriller. Kill has been killing it and has received excellent reviews at TIFF, unleashing an unstoppable madness amidst resounding international acclaim!
‘Kill’, starring Lakshya, has risen to the top of the Midnight Madness People’s Choice Award (PCA) rankings at the Toronto International Film Festival and was announced as the first-runner up amidst thunderous applause and cheers for the team. The Midnight Madness program at TIFF showcases the best in genre cinema, and the PCA rankings are determined by audience votes. The movie has already won praise on a global level, and with this announcement they have unlocked another noteworthy achievement.

Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt, ‘KILL’ also stars Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala. ‘KILL’, is a movie full of high-octane action scenes that nobody saw coming. The film had already created quite a buzz with its announcement poster which was released by the makers where Lakshya appears raw and intimidating with an aura of suspense.
‘Dear Jassi’, written by ‘OMG 2’ director Amit Rai, wins Best Film Award
The Indian film, ‘Dear Jassi’, directed by renowned filmmaker Tarsem Singh Dhandwar, won the prestigious Platform Award for Best Film at the recently held 48th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This is the first time that an Indian film has received this honour. ‘Dear Jassi’ is written by the much-acclaimed Amit Rai (OMG 2).
In a statement, the Platform Jury said, “Dear Jassi was a unanimous choice for this year’s Platform Award for its honest and poignant portrayal of a subject matter that still affects large portions of individuals forced to live under the inhumanity of bitter caste systems throughout the globe.”
‘Dear Jassi’ is Tarsem Singh Dhandwar’s first story set in India, which tells the true-life Romeo and Juliet tale of a young couple who are desperate to be together but are kept apart by time, distance and familial expectations. After winning accolades at the Toronto Film Festival, ‘Dear Jassi’ is all set to shine at the BFI London Film Festival in October this year.
‘Dear Jassi’ is a T-Series Films and Wakaoo Films production. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl, Sanjay Grover and Tarsem Singh Dhandwar.
