Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan made his much-awaited acting debut this year. The star kid’s good looks and his resemblance to Saif had already made him a fan favorite. But when his first film, Nadaaniyan released, things changed completely. Ibrahim’s performance, his chemistry with co-star Khushi Kapoor and the college romance storyline received heavy criticism online. Now, in a recent interview, Ibrahim called Nadaaniyan a bad film. According to reports, this statement has hurt his mentor and filmmaker Karan Johar, who co-produced Ibrahim’s debut.
Ibrahim’s Honest Take On Nadaaniyan
In an interview with Esquire India, Ibrahim Ali Khan made a bold statement. “I’m just gonna go on record and say that it was a really bad film,” he said about his debut movie. During the same chat, Ibrahim also talked about his next film Diler and director Kunal Deshmukh, who has worked with Mohit Suri before.
He said, “Haha, after seeing Saiyaara, who wouldn’t name-drop Mohit Suri? Dharma, obviously, is my home. I just want to do well, and after I have done well, go back to Karan sir and say, ‘Okay, Karan sir, let’s do it again’. I want to do him proud.”
Karan Johar Is Reportedly Hurt
Karan Johar has not publicly reacted to Ibrahim’s interview yet. However, sources close to the filmmaker say that he is hurt by these comments.
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, a close friend of KJo said, “Karan is not a stranger to ingratitude. Many of his protegees have turned out to be ungrateful. Karan had promised to launch Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan’s son and he kept his word. After launching Ibrahim in Nadaaniyan, Karan even followed it up with Sarzameen, although he was advised against doing so. If Ibrahim feels Nadaaniyan was a really bad film, why didn’t Sarzameen work?”
Sources Say Don’t Disown A Film
Another source made an important point about the film industry. “You don’t disown a film just because it doesn’t work. Ibrahim’s father Saif, was thrown out of his debut film, Bekhudi. Not once has Saif spoken against the film,” the source stated.
The comment highlights a key difference in how different generations handle failure. While Saif Ali Khan never criticized his troubled debut, his son Ibrahim has openly called his first film bad, which is being seen as disrespectful to the team that worked on it.

Right now, everyone is waiting to see if either Karan Johar or Ibrahim Ali Khan will publicly address this situation. Ibrahim is busy with his next film, Diler, while Karan continues to produce multiple projects under Dharma Productions.
