Karan Johar recently came up with a romantic comedy-drama film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film marked the 25th year anniversary since he directed his first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It also marked his return to the director’s chair since 2016’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and it has so far received positive reviews and strong box-office results.
Previously, Karan had directed Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and that makes him one of the few directors (just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali) who has worked with both Ranveer and Ranbir. Today, the team of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani did a press conference in Mumbai to celebrate its success. At the event, he talked about working with both of these stars.
Karan said, “There is nobody who kind of brings that energy on the film’s set that Ranveer gets. Issey pehle I worked with Ranbir Kapor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, who is actually calm and composed, someone who gets his own energy on the set. And now, working with Ranveer, he gave me a cultural shock.” He then said that Ranveer has a kind of “the enthusiasm that he gets is just to enhance his performance. I have not seen this kind of energy.”
Ranveer Unveils Deepika Padukone’s Response On The Film
At the event, Ranveer also revealed what Deepika Padukone thinks of the film. He said, “She loved it. It was a memorable and fulfilling experience. It was just the two of us, sitting in the last row, in recliners. She was laughing, crying, and clapping. I had the best and most fulfilling experience. She is proud of me.” Earlier, Ranveer had shared a video on Instagram of Deepika grooving on the What Jhumka song from the film.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Khaani was released last week and opened to generally positive reviews. In its first five days, the film went on to gross 125 crore at the global box office. The film is expected to achieve blockbuster status in the coming days on the ticket window.
