T-Series has chosen a powerful cultural moment for its latest film announcement. On Goddess Karni Mata’s 639th Janam Utsav, the banner joined hands with Raaj Shaandilyaa’s Kathavachak Films to unveil Karnika, a new feature inspired by one of Rajasthan’s most revered deities.
The project has been positioned as a contemporary cinematic telling of Karni Mata’s legacy. Revered by devotees as an incarnation of Hinglaj Mata, she is remembered in regional tradition as a warrior sage associated with courage, spiritual wisdom and unwavering faith. That foundation gives Karnika a clear identity right from its first announcement.
The Film Was Announced On An Auspicious Day
The timing of the reveal adds particular weight to the launch because Karni Mata’s Janam Utsav this year is being observed during Sharad Navratri. That alignment ties the film’s first public announcement to a period of heightened devotion, especially for followers of the goddess across Rajasthan.
The makers also leaned into that spiritual note in their campaign messaging around the reveal, invoking Karni Mata as a singular mother figure with many forms. The tone makes it clear that Karnika is being introduced not simply as a biographical or devotional title, but as a film designed to connect faith, history and contemporary storytelling.
Rajasthan Shoot Locked For 2027
Karnika will be shot in Deshnoke, Bikaner and Jodhpur, locations closely linked to Karni Mata’s legacy and public memory. The production is scheduled to go on floors in early 2027, with release plans also targeted for the same year. The cast and director are still being finalised, with more announcements expected as the film moves ahead.
Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present Karnika, a Kathavachak Films production. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Shaandilyaa, Vimal Lahoti and Niranjan Mundhra. With two established banners backing the project, the film has already drawn immediate industry attention at the announcement stage.
Why Karnika Matters Now
At this stage, Karnika stands out because of its subject, its timing and its setting. Stories rooted in regional spiritual traditions rarely arrive with this scale of mainstream backing, and the decision to film in Deshnoke, Bikaner and Jodhpur grounds the project in places that are inseparable from Karni Mata’s legacy.
That gives the film a strong starting point as it moves into production. It also ensures that the announcement feels anchored in both cultural memory and a clearly defined cinematic vision.
