Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani‘s romantic drama film Satyaprem Ki Katha released in the theaters on 29 June. Ever since it came out, fans and critics cannot stop talking and gushing about Kartik’s performance as the titular Satyaprem ‘Sattu’ in the film. Kartik plays the role of a funny, happy-go-lucky Gujarati guy who is jobless but has a kind heart. He lives in a house where even his father (played by Gajraj Rao) doesn’t do anything.
As the story progresses, we see him falling in love and eventually marrying Katha (played by Kiara Advani), who is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Kartik has made a career out of delivering long monologues and funky dialogues with swag. In Satyaprem Ki Katha, we see some shades of that. But ultimately, Kartik Aaryan the performer takes over and shines in particularly emotional scenes.
The character goes through a range of emotions in his journey as he falls in love and tries to navigate his life with Katha. It is clear that Kartik has matured as an actor after being in the industry for over a decade. It is particularly applause-worthy that he is now picking scripts where he has an entire spectrum to display as an actor. Case in point this film doesn’t paint a rosy picture of marriage, unlike most films.

Satyaprem Ki Katha is directed by Sameer Vidwans, and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Namah Pictures. Apart from Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, the film also stars Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak, and Shikha Talsania in pivotal roles. The film was released yesterday and has met with mostly positive critical responses and a decent box-office opening.
