Chandu Champion opened to glowing reviews as critics praised honesty of Kartik’s performance and Kabir Khan’s crafty direction. But multiplex flavour of the film meant poor business in mass centres. Film is very metro centric and that reflected in sluggish collection. Also ₹ 150 pricing kept the numbers low as it didn’t push walk ins in any significant way.
Film collected close to 3.10 crore gross in national chains on day one which means a strictly average 5.40 crore nett all India number. Film jumped by 42% on day two and collected 7.70 crore nett.
Film has total 13.10 crore nett and it’s heading for 20.50 – 21 crore nett weekend. Monday holds the key as that will decide its lifetime business.
