On the eve of his 69th birthday, Kamal Haasan surprised his fans by announcing his next film with Mani Ratnam, titled Thug Life. The film marks the reunion of the two legends after 36 years, since their classic Nayakan in 1987. Thug Life is touted to be an action thriller, with Kamal Haasan playing a gangster named Rengaraya Sakthivel Nayakan, who goes by the nickname Yakuza.

The title announcement video, which was released on Monday, showed glimpses of Kamal Haasan‘s character and his action-packed life. The video also revealed the star-studded cast of the film, which includes Dulquer Salmaan, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayam Ravi. The film has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, editing by Sreekar Prasad, and stunts by Anbariv.

Thug Life is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, Red Giant Movies, R Mahendran, and Siva Ananth. The film is expected to release in 2024. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the magic that Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam will create on the big screen, after their previous collaboration Nayakan, which is considered one of the best films of Indian cinema.
