King: Shah Rukh Khan Film Continues Mumbai Shoot In Last Leg With Two Months Of Work Left

The momentum around Shah Rukh Khan’s King has shifted into high-security mode as the film continues its Mumbai shoot in one of its most crucial stretches. With the action thriller moving closer to the finish line, the production has tightened on-ground movement around key portions currently being filmed near Ghodbunder Road, on the outskirts of Mumbai.

The current schedule has become significantly stricter, especially for action blocks and important dramatic scenes. A source close to the development shared, “This set in Mumbai is a busy area, so removing phone access won’t help much. But movement in the action portions and crucial scenes has become extremely restricted.”

King Enters Last Leg Of Mumbai Shoot

The latest update from the set is that King is now in its final stretch, though the team still has substantial work left before calling it a wrap. The film has “nearly two months of shoot pending”, with the makers simultaneously pushing ahead on post-production elements.

The production push is now moving on parallel tracks. “King is in its final leg. A lot of patchwork, action inserts, and another schedule remains to be done, with VFX work going on simultaneously. The film is looking to wrap by July-end,” the source revealed.

The July-end target makes the ongoing Mumbai stint vital to the film’s completion plan, with patchwork, action inserts, VFX coordination, and one more schedule all being aligned before the final wrap.

Inside King’S Star-Studded Action Canvas

King is a Hindi-language action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is produced by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand, and Mamta Anand under Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. Shah Rukh Khan leads the ensemble, which also includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, and Rani Mukerji.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 24, 2026. Its premise is being kept tightly guarded, but the project is positioned as a large-scale action thriller with extensive VFX work and multiple Indian and international shooting schedules.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Shah Rukh Khan’s recent theatrical phase has been one of the strongest comebacks in modern Hindi cinema. In 2023, he returned as a full-fledged lead with Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. He followed it with Atlee’s Jawan, alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, and then Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, co-starring Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal. He also appeared as Pathaan in Tiger 3 in 2023.

On OTT and documentary appearances, Shah Rukh Khan featured in The Romantics in 2023 and Angry Young Men in 2024. This current phase places King at the centre of his next big-screen chapter, with the film’s scale, ensemble, and action-heavy treatment keeping industry attention firmly on its final months of production.
